This morning, I had a surprise visit from Marie Bruneau and Bertrand Genier who came to give me a copy of their book [Here begins the path of the mountains, 2019–2021, #Beginnings, #Camps, #Landscapes, Ah! Pyrenees]. According to the authors, this non-commercial publication is an “ideal exhibition,” a kind of dreamed collection.
Tens of works find their place in this publication, among the one of Maya Anderson, Lucien Briet, François Flamichon, Hamish Fulton, Albert Gusi, Suzanne Husky, Paul Iratzoquy, Laurent Le Deunff, Richard Long, Hélène Saule-Sorbé, Franz Schrader, Didier Sorbé…
Those works allow questioning “the mountain by the art (and reciprocally). In the Pyrenees.”
This publication summarizes three exhibitions that took place between Pau and Lourdes, in an interregional program.
The text The Mountains of Gilles Sage written by the authors of the book, presenting my ceramic project Mountains with some pictures of the work, is featured in the publication in a chapter entitled #Ah! Pyrenees.
“Under this title, a fourth exhibition would have shown up in the Frac Nouvelle-Aquitaine, established on the upper floors of the singular building with the complex geometry of the MECA, at the entrance to the city, on the banks of the Garonne, in Bordeaux.
We would have reshuffled the deck there: dream of Nature.
And this place that receives and collects the most contemporary artistic propositions would have been an observatory, as a balcony on the city, of our link toward the mountains, beyond nature and culture.
The health crisis decided otherwise.”
