Exhibition : Relief in the Maison du Parc national et de la Vallée, Luz-Saint-Sauveur

30 October 2023

I am very pleased to announce the Relief exhibition at the Maison du Parc National et de la Vallée de Luz-Saint-Sauveur in the Hautes-Pyrénées (65).

To walk in the mountains. To climb a pass, to stop. To descend. To swim across the lake. In the distance, light plays with a summit. Quickly, trigger the camera. Here, a sprig of thyme to tuck between one's teeth. Continue on the path, follow the yellow markings on the rocks, look for the next cairn, find a new yellow directional sign. The lush grass tickles the ankles. A marmot whistles in the distance. Capture the moment. Overcome vertigo to reach the summit, connecting two valleys that were previously known separately in a single gaze.
Since 2017, Gilles Sage has relocated his studio to the Pyrenees for several weeks each year. In a subtle way, the mountain has infiltrated his artistic research. An experienced hiker, he collects sensations and various materials in the mountains, which fuel his work at a later stage, when he is no longer exploring the terrain. He gathers various experiments, materials, colors, sounds, and moving images. He adds, he subtracts elements, he experiments. He transitions from two-dimensional images to three-dimensional forms, and vice versa. His ceramics deconstruct and then reconstruct a digitized mountain landscape. These pieces will be at the heart of the 'Relief' exhibition.

The exhibition will take place from November 1st to November 30th, 2023, during the opening hours of the Maison du Parc National et de la Vallée, in the vaulted room. Free admission.

Open from Monday to Saturday from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM, and on Sundays from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM (closed on November 11th).

The opening reception will be held on Tuesday, November 28th, at 6:00 PM, in my presence.

I will also conduct exhibition tours on November 25th and November 29th at 6:00 PM."
